MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

what the students are exposed to in the Std XII
(10+2) level. The syllabus prescribed is indepth and thus

State Medical Entrance Examination
Admission into Medical Colleges in almost all States in
India is based on an Entrance Examination. This Examination
is conducted with domicile restrictions. The Examination
consists of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry
and Biology of the Std. XII level. List of States which

All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT)
An Indian National can seek admission to a seat in a medical
college in any of the States through the All India Pre-
Medical/Pre-DentalEntrance Examination. The Central Board
of Secondary Education, CBSE, conducts this examination
every year for 15% seats in Government and Municipal Medical/Dental
colleges all over India except in the States of Andhra
Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Preliminary Examination : 1st / 2nd week of April
Final Examination : 2nd / 3rd week of May
Eligibility : A candidate who complets 17 years of
age on or before 31st December of the year of admission
is eligible.
Academic Qualification : He/She should secure 50%
(40% in case of SC/ST) of the total marks in English,
Physics,Chemistry and Biology taken together at the Std.
XII/HSC examinations at the time of admission. F.Y.BSc/S.Y.BSc/T.Y.BSc.
students are also eligible, provided they have got the
required marks at the Std. XII level.
Pattern of AIPMT:
Preliminary Examination : The examination would consist of one paper of 3 hours containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer)consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
Final Examination : (Only those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination) The final examination would consist of two papers each of 2 hours duration. Paper - I would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper - II would contain questions from Biology (Botany and Zoology). The final examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions.
3) Other Medical Entrance Examinations
Apart from the above mentioned examinations there are
several medical colleges where seats are open to Indian
Nationals through Entrance Examination on all India basis
without domicile restrictions.

A
candidate is free to write any number of Entrance Exams
in the same year.
The Entrance Examinations are generally held between
April and August. The details and information bulletins
are issued by the authorities conducting the various
examinations and the announcements are given in leading
news papers.
ENGINEERING
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
For admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture / Planning programmes, the Government of India has laid down a Three exam scheme i.e. JEE and AIEEE at the National Level and SLEEE for the State Level Institutions.
AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) : The exam is conducted by the CBSE for the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India for admitting students in various National Institutes of Technology, Institutions under the Central Universities / Deemed Universities and many other institutions in the states.
Scheme of the Entrance Exam : The Entrance Examination will consist of 3 papers in Physics & Chemistry, Mathematics & Aptitude Test (for Architecture & Planning students). Students planning to enrol for B.E./B.Tech have to appear for Paper-I and Paper-2. Students planning to enrol for B.Arch have to appear for Paper-2 and Paper-3. All the above 3 papers will consist of Objective questions. For each incorrect response, one third of the total mark allotted to the question would be deducted. Kindly refer our prospectus for the tentative List of Participating Institutions in AIEEE.
SLEEE (State Level Engineering Entrance Examination) Almost
all the States in India conduct their own Engineering
Entrance Examination to select candidates for the Engineering Seats in Engineering colleges in their State.
Pattern
of the Examination : The examination will consist
of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics. It may also consist of simple numerical
problems.
Eligibility
: All candidates studying in Std. XII or higher
are eligible to appear in the entrance exams.
